Hope for Honduras Inc was founded in 1999 by Ron & Shelley Jones to help those people displaced by the devastation of Hurricane Mitch in November 1998. Fifteen years ago, they went up to “Mogote” to pass out food in the streets and provide basic medical care. Today, the organization has two churches plants, Bible Institute for pastors and leaders, a bilingual school for grades K-6, tutoring program for grades K-college, Bible Kinder for 4 & 5 years old, medical clinic, feeding program in the streets, short term mission teams who come along side us to build houses, pass out bagged food, help in the education programs and play with the kids.
They work on the mountain not to change their culture or make them into Americans like us, but to help them develop a lasting and sustaining relationship with Jesus Christ. Then, whether they stay in Mogote or move on, they have everything they need for success. With the help of God and people from all over the world, they will continue to press forward until they see Him in the people of Mogote on the mountain.
